In January I'm going to New York and connecting to Charlotte from there. The connecting flights will be booked on US and on the VS website it says that miles can be earned on flights with them.
quote: 'When booking, you'll need to quote your Flying Club membership number [...]'
Now, when I want to complete the booking on the US website there is a field to enter the frequent flyer number and next to that is a drop-down menu to select the frequent flier programme from, but neither VS nor FC are listed there [?]
Has anyone here done a booking with them before and knows which airline to select there? Because naturally it does not seem to allow to just enter a number. Or should I not mention FC at all and then claim missing miles afterwards?
Any help would be appreciated [:)]

Cheers,
Birdie

Show them your FC card when checking in for your US Airways flight and hold on to your boarding pass stub in case you need to claim missing miles

I have the same problem. I am flying SFO to Colorado in June with US Airways. Like Birdie, I was unable to quote my FF number. I just hope at check in they will take note of my FF number. I will keep my boarding stub just in case! Previous similar experience with Delta a few years ago proved such a hassle, I gave up in the end!

My only concern now is that the second leg of my journey ie. Phoenix to Grand Junction, is on a Mesa Airlines flight. They have just filed for Chapter 11. [:?]

The only issue you may have is that the person checking you in may not know that VS is a partner, for some reason this is kind of common, just stick with it and they will figure it out.

I also had this problem when booking a US airways flight recently. In the end I booked and then sent them an e-mail (adress on the contact us bit of their website) and they added me and my partners VS FC numbers to our booking. This was done within 48 hours of sending the e-mail. Confirmed that these were still on the booking at the airport and they were. Although I haven't had the miles yet! [?]

I've done it at the airport, it worked fine for 4 out of 5 flights, the other one the number was entered wrong at check in and I had to post it in - also got double miles because of a promotion you should check if it's still running

Mesa filing Chapter 11 is not a concern, if what you're worried about is your flight not operating.

United operated under Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection for about 3 years while it restructured.

Chapter 11 exists to prevent the company from being foreclosed on by those it owes money to, so that it can continue operating and restructure it's operations.

In any case, should Mesa stop flying, or want to cease flying that route due to the restructuring, the contracting airline (US, in this case) will most likely find some other regional operator to step in.

Mesa is a little different than UA, their big problem is/was they decided that the best way to do business was to bid on contracts at a loss, though they may survive I have my doubts, but as you state, it's US's problem should they stop flying.

What's the betting that SkyWest will probably cherry pick the good bits, should the Bankruptcy Court Judge decide that it's in the creditors best interests to dismember Mesa?

With US Air, ask the gate agent to enter the VS number, some don't know it's a partner, but just make a joke about management and poor communication and they'll laugh. I book my ticket on UAL FF # to take advantage of my now puny status level on that airline, then change to VS at gate - works every time, I get priority boarding and then the miles I want.
