I know it gets you into the clubhouses, but does it get you into the worldwide lounges at other airports (that flying UC would get you into) when flying in PE or Economy? Website doesn't seem to deal with this.

The simple answer is yes (with a guest too), though some people have reported problems at Vegas.

I have done it as a PE passenger in Miami, Chicago and Boston (before the CH opened there) without any bother.

VS Au status is pretty meaningless unless you are on VS metal. And even then, when you exceed VS Au status despite the top tier team, there's little to go for or benefit from.

If you are going to get VS Au, save all your next flights for another airline's premium status. It's worth more.

My opinion is that Gold status is only worthwhile having if you travel PE or Economy. Paid for access to LHR Clubhouse is 60 per person, so it feels like you get 240 of tangible benefits for each PE or Economy trip you take if travelling with a guest. Then add the intangible benefits like the fast track security channel that gives you the 'I have status' feeling that money can't buy.

But if you're flying Upper Class, Gold status is worthless as all the benefits are included already.

Oh, and there are no problems getting into the Washington lounge with a guest when travelling PE.
