Up in the Air movie

Watched this yesterday, a George Clooney movie about a self centered mileage freak on a mission to make 10M miler status. Remind you of anyone here? Uh oh...

A few mildly interesting parts, especially a bit where he has a rather unbelievable dick swinging excercise with a potential (and ultimately successful) conquest in an airport hotel bar as they compare their FF cards. I mean, do women really care about their FF statuses in the same way that men do?

American Airlines achieve sole bragging rights for product placement, but it's all domestic First.

Anyway in case you're tempted, I'd wait for the DVD, or, better still, on board a plane with a Tanqueray No. 10 and tonic in hand. Oops, do they still do that?

Thanks Howard, I saw this out when I was in the US last month, as interesed as I am in FFP's and air travel and as much as I like Clooney, this film just didn't appeal to me. I'll wait for it appearing on Sky next year after this.

Oh, and wasn't it odd that all the planes were spick and span and the Admirals Clubs too ... like the Queen visiting and all given a makeover. Unlike the usual dour, miserable places the Admirals Clubs usually are!

Can't comment on state of the lounges cos never been in one.

Enjoyed the film - interesting take on corporate life.

AA lounges historically have been depressing dark brown leather affairs stuck somewhere in the eighties. And they usually look as though they've not been updated since then.

Agreed on the butt shot. All too short. She was holding up well. Enough already.

We saw this today and thoroughly enjoyed it. After seeing 'The Road' earlier in the week I needed something a little lighter to lift the mood, and even with the rather depressing central fact of Ryan Bingham's role in life, this fitted the bill. Gets my vote for 'best use of tie' when the Oscars come around.

The corporate b*ll*ckspeak for 'you're fired' is all too familiar; the script that appears at the side of the screen when they are first trying out the remote terminator could have come from our corporate manual.

I wonder how much American, Hilton and Hertz put up for the product placement?

My enjoyment was marred only slightly by the ticket clerk asking me 'adult or senior citizen?', but that's another issue.
