Greeting all...
I will be flying LAX to NBO via LHR UC with a four hour lay over between flights. Was wondering do I need to check in at the desk for the LHR-NBO flight or can I do that when checking in at LAX. If so how does one get to the clubhouse without leaving the secure area of the airport.
Thanks
James

You probably will be able to through-check your bags but I honestly can't answer whether or not you can check in for your NBO flight at LAX. If not, don't worry. There is a check-in desk in Flight Connections as you can see

You need to follow 'flight connections' when you arrive at LHR rather than the 'entering the uk' flow.

Once you are in main departures you can follow the signs to the airline lounges and then find the CH. If you are not already checked in for your flight to NBO then the concierge staff will be able to do it for you.

Grrr at HL for finding the link before I did !

Note this process can take more than an hour, the only priority was (unless someone has an update) for BA Club+, so you're stuck in line with a bunch of people from who knows where.

When I go through LHR on Friday my plan is go through immigration and customs when I get off UA954 - when you're front of the plane or EU passport, immigration is a breeze. Then I'll transfer to T3, check my bags so I got priority on VS601 and go through security, but UC secuirty is so fast who cares.

Recent experience of a friend transiting through T3 LHR on VS UC from JNB-LHR-IAD confirms he would have been better going through regular immigration.

and as our friend is in UC won't he get a magic pink card for the fast track immigration line?

Then he could go straight through customs because his bags will be checked through so he wont have any, then over to deparures and straight up to the VS fast track security channel?

As he hopefully wont see his bags at LHR he just can't buy any duty free on the LAX-LHR leg because of the 100ml liquid limit when going back through security then straight to the CH for a nice rest !

This assumes that his bags are through checked in at LAX though ...

Hi all thank you for the responses.
I will be doing carry on only, no checked bags and since I fly VS all the way I was hoping the transit would be smooth and not eat up alot of time at the clubhouse.

I would avoid the transfer line like the plague.

According to the crew on the flight yesterday these aren't loaded anymore. You just have to persuade the guy at the line that you've travelled Upper Class. Think they stopped being loaded with the extras basket as they did search the plane quite thoroughly and couldn't find a single one.

Another vote for it really not being worth doing flight connections if connecting in UC. Out through customs in T3, up and across towards the right of arrivals (IIRC) and I think you're out in T3 landside outside regular security, if your BP is printed for you in LA you can just walk to the entrance to the UC security channel at the other end of the terminal, scan BP and walk in, 1 min to go through security and you can go to the lounge. With a European passport the whole thing will take less than half an hour IMO.
