Departure Times and the CH not being busy

Ok am heading off to NYC in a couple of weeks (Thurs 18)

Am (currently) offered G's on the VS45 @ 12.00 and the VS01 @16.00

Advantage of the 45 is the mid afternoon arrival in NYC but at the cost of a busy CH in the morning due to all the AM departures so reduced chance of a treatment. The 45 is a A340-600

The 01 obviously departs later but does that = a less busy CH and more chance of a nice facial before going? (also means a nice lay in that morning !). The 01 is a B747-400 (so the better IFE?)

As I'm going to be in NYC for a week a few extra hours on the Thursday arn't going to mean I miss out on anything. Am not bovvered about arriving at JFK or EWR either.

So thoughts on 'what would you do' also anyone have any info on which is likely to be the less busy flight UC cabin wise. Sorry if this sounds a bit vague and wishy washy but (I think) you know what I mean !

Obviously need to make a decision ASAP !

I would always take the earlier VS45. CH being busy isn't usually a major issue, still plenty of space, and again, how full the UC cabin is doesn't really matter to me, as long as I have my seat I am happy.

The benefit of the 45 is that if there are any delays, you still get to NYC at a reasonable time, is the VS1 is delayed it could be very late before you arrive at your hotel. Plus on the day I go away I would rather just get up and get off, can't stand waiting around to go to airport etc.

I guess it is ultimately what suits you best though that counts.

I missed the comment about the IFE. All the A346 and B747's operating ex LHR have V-Port, it is only the A343 that not all a/c are fitted with V-Port (just the 1 is currently), so the IFE won't make any difference to you.

I would go for the later flight - a few hours in New York rather than half a day suits me and my body clock on the first day/night (sink a few dry martini's then bed and no jet lag).

Clubhouse may be busy or not at any time of the day - like a UC cabin; neither of which really bother me or have an effect, positive or otherwise, on the flucation of the quality of service I have recieved in either.

I totally agree HG re: jetlag - the later US arrival time seems to make all the difference and the next day isn't wasted.

I used to avoid the 45 because it landed during immigration chaos, but recently the time moved a little earlier and its better.

But, like others I'd take the 1, then get into Manhattan, have supper, go to bed. Doesn't feel like a bad day whereas the 45 means you feel like you're struggling to stay up and then get into US time.

The downside is that the 45 means a busy clubhouse whereas it really empties once the 19 and 7 and other flights leave meaning more space and less busy spa.

Another vote for late arrivals. And dry (gin) martinis [;)]

Have gone for the 01 on Wed 17th and the 02 back on the 23rd

Means a lay on on the morning and leisurly last minute packing rather than the frantics I normally go through !

Got 'Gs' as well [:D][:D]
