Pot Noodle

I have never noticed VS serving pot noodles as snacks in Y to Asia. I know BA and CX serve them. Does VS stock pot noodles onboard or can one bring them onboard and ask for some hot water from the cabin crew?

VS always used to and IIRC still have a limited supply of instant noodles (not Pot Noodle brand) available on request only on flights to HKG, PVG and NRT. It's been a while since I've flown to one of those destinations myself so am not too sure of any more up-to-date information.

If you bring your own instant noodles on onboard, crew will be more than happy to provide you with hot water for them.

So what are the rules on taking food items onboard and through customs?

Dry food for consumption in-flight should be OK. The real problems start at the destination end.

Well you can take most food through security but you will still need to abide by the liquid rules at each airport. Anything you buy after security is fine. I have even seen people bring a meal on from the Caviar Bar inside Terminal 3 - they just asked for a plate and some cutlery which we provided.

Most food would need to be consumed onboard as you cannot take any fruit, vegetables, milk, cheese and meat through customs.

The LHR Clubhouse should start doing doggy bags then!

Imagine having to sit next to someone who hands over their own pot noodle for heating up. The smell wafting over as you look at your poor excuse for a meal and wish you had done the same. Maybe pot noodle etiquette says you stake one for your seat partner?

Thanks for the tip. The OH is not a big fan of airplane food and on one of our previous flight, VS ran out of meal choice and only had beef left and she wasn't a fan of that either so she was left hungry for most of the jourey. Will pack a couple of pot noodles next time rather than gambling on VS having them onboard.
