Hi Vflyers

I've done the below twice before but haven't flown since summer 2007 :(

I appreciate I could phone FC but don't want to be on hold ages so hoping you could let me know if the following is achievable -

1) Book 'L' class LHR-SFO return
2) Use Amex companion reward to get 'free' economy return for partner
3) Use my miles to upgrade my L to a G (partner stays in Y - yeah I know!)

Cheers

Yep all that is still possible, providing of course there are companion seats available and then a G for you to upgrade to UC with. As you have already said, your partner will have to stay in Y.

Superb - thanks very much for the lightning quick reply :)

Does your partner know they will be staying in economy and you will be living it up in UC?!

Exactly! If I tried or even dared to think about leaving the current Missus in Y whilst I'm up the front, I don't think she'd be my current anything for much longer!

Hahaha yes it's been done twice before. Harsh but fair - she gets the 'free' Y seat plus Clubhouse use etc. Plus a sleepsuit if I'm feeling generous.

Given the state of some of them I'm not sure that your 'gift' is that generous !

OK just phoned up FC to do this - 30 mins on the phone to be told it's not possible. Can anyone elaborate? Not amused.

What reason did they give? I would call the UC reservation number, and just tell them you want to upgrade your L economy fare to UC using miles. Of course, there must be G mileage seats available to do this.

I can't see any reason, apart from no G's available for them to say no.

Thanks Neil, on the phone now - all sorted. Not amused with the previous person I spoke to!
All done now though! :)

Glad you got it sorted, it is SO frustrating that some of the VS agents don't give the correct information out.
