I need to make a short notice flight to SYD, and looks like VAA don't have any seats for my dates. So.... if I fly with SQ, do I need to book via VAA to get the tier points, or can I book with SQ direct (but I assume I then need to give SQ my FC number etc?).

Also, am I correct in my understanding that flying return Y with SQ to SYD (and back)via Singapore would get me 4 TP's each way?

Anyone have any view on SQ Y quality???

Thanks,

Viz.

I booked direct with SQ and got the tier points by giving my FC number to them

With any partner you *should* just need to give them your FC number at check-in to receive the points/miles. Hang on to your e-ticket just in case they are not credited automatically. I have not had a problem with Bmi and South African recently, just handed over my Gold card at check-in and the points appeared on my FC account page days later.

But do I HAVE to book through VAA or can I book direct with the Partner?

Thanks.

HL's reply states she booked direct, so you do not need to book via VS.

Doesn't matter who you book with in order to get the points. Check the fare code you are booking though to ensure it is points earning in the T&C's.

I don't know whether there is still an issue (anyone flown SQ recently?), but certainly last year it took a long time for TPs and miles flown on SQ to be processed so make sure you hang on to your stubs. I found this to be a major pain as I needed the points for AU status, but a lot of badgering eventually got them credited.

I beilve SQ Y is very good with a nice modern IFE in the A380s, however haven't flown it myself.
