Sky Phone...

Hi all,

Was just wondering if many people on here have ever used the sky phone? Curiosity got the better of me last year en-route in upper to LAX... Roughly six hours in I decided to make a call to my girlfriend back in England. First thing she said was where are you? Has the flight been delayed? I explained that I was at 38,000 ft somewhere over Canada. I really had to convince her!

The sound quality was outstanding. My landline at home is often not as good! Four weeks later I received my next visa statement... I won't be using the sky phone again! [:0]

You don't get to see them used very often - it's been a couple of months since I last saw someone use one.

It's very strange to see someone talking on a phone very loudly on a night flight surrounded by sleeping people!

I have used one once and then it was a total emergency, the CC bill made my eyes bulg, but it had to be done.

I have made a seat-to-seat call with one before. The quality was terrible and it was very quiet. We were talking so loudly that we may as well not bothered and just shouted down the aircraft [ii]
