Help please oh knowledgeable ones. Never flown Economy with VS before and 2 of us booked on VS11 to Boston (no probs seats) and VS12 back which is a 747-400 Vers. 3 with 3-4-3 configuration ! Wheres best to be ? Don't like being right down the back but have booked 61H/K as so few double seats, but wonder if it would be better to chance a middle and end on the 3 seats and hope no one is put in the window seat - don't know how full this flight gets in Economy. Thanks for help

Have a look at the seat rating section on this site and Seat Guru.

Personally I prefer to be further up the front in Economy, it is much quieter as you do not have people queuing next to you for the loo (as you do by the double seats) and of course is less bumpy.

It all really depends on how busy the flight is, if you really want to not have someone climbing over you then D and E or F and G would be the best seats to have.

Another vote for as far forward as you can get for sitting in economy.

You also have a better chance of getting your first choice of meals as I think on most VS A/C, the service starts at the front and works back.

If you're on a 744, I would also go for one of the 2's down the back so 62-64AC and HK. Just the thought of not having a stranger next to you for the whole flight is great.

Another vote for down at the back if you want to have immediately adjacent seating - avoid the centre seat hell!
An alternative though, is two adjacent aisle seats further forward - you have to take pot-luck with the neighbours but at least you can lean into some space.

Another vote for the back. If you can get the final two seats then you can stand up behind the seats and still watch your IFE.

Do you now pay for the final two rows in Y?

Thanks for the opinions everybody, think I will stick with the two seats down the back for the time being and see if there is any other choice when I do OLCI or even when I get to the airport.
