Yep here we go again, NH is delving into the knowledge bank that is the V-flyers..

no more nursery fees[y] So a potential mr&mrs only break in September...[y] plenty of G's and nearly there on convincing snr NH's they'd love to have mini for a week [B)]

But where to stay, best base as the place is HUGE, any personal recommendations
Yes I know the MO will be nice but a week there is likely to deplete the holiday budget for other trips. Bear in mind this is out of own pockets and not on expenses...

All you Tokyo visitors lets be having your thoughts [^]

Please..

I thought this was discussed earlier but I can't find it [?]

I stayed at the Grand Prince Takanawa in Shinagawa and in the same grounds was the New Prince Takanawa. I found it just fine for my stay. There were plenty of restaurants and shops around and the station was nearby.

Two favourites of ours

- The Seiyo Ginza

and

- The Park Hyatt (as featured in 'Lost in Translation')

Both hotels are very different, but both equally as good

A friend of mine who I visited when I was in Japan stayed at the Park Hotel in Shiodome - rooms start on the 28th floor so there are some good rooms to be had and the room prices are very reasonable for Tokyo. It is also easy to get around from here - Shiodome Metro station is in the basement of the hotel and 2 minutes walk away is the JR Shimbashi station where you can catch the Yamanote Line to get round Tokyo quickly.

I'm going in April(28 days and counting!) and am staying primarily in the Tokyo Hilton, it's in the middle of Shinjuku and look amazing.

Another recommendation for the Prince Takanawa.
There is a short hill up from the station to the hotel entrance but you can walk up & down through the gardens.
A good location.

One vote for the Tokyo Hilton. Executive floor if possible. Plus Hilton are flying club partners - triple mile promotion on when we stayed there. Hotel is in a very good location, subway in the basement and a short 5 minute walk from the massive Shinjuku station. Hilton is quite a nice hotel overall, and much more affordable than the likes of the Park Hyatt (which is just up the road a bit - so you can always head there for dinner if you want).

I'll be able to report back on the Tokyo Hilton as well soon - the location of it is certainly fantastic. 8D
