After reading an article in yesterday's Daily Mail I am now seriously considering a weeks trip here maybe next year sometime.

ANZ are curretly offering some pretty good deals in economy to PPT via LAX with free stop overs at LAX both ways for approx. £750 in Apr/May 2006. I'm thinking maybe later in the year though?

Works out about twice the price if you fly VS to LAX then NZ LAX>PPT. At least I'd earn FC miles on ANZ plus having Gold *A I'd get lounge access as well!!!:)

Just wondering if anyone has visited the area and can recommend some accomodation that's doesn't cost an arm and a leg!!!

Thanks and Regards

Welcome to honest Dave's travel shop....

ok few things you need to know about Tahiti..

The cost of getting there is the cheap part !!! scary I know..
Hotels are going to run you somewhere between an aram and an arm and a leg. There are however a few places that work out very well.

If you looking for a decent hotel thats not going to cost a fortune, try novotel http://www.novotel.com/novotel/index.html..just put in Tahiti in the search box..They have 2 hotels there, one in Bora Bora the other in Rangiroa...If I had to pick between the two I would go for Rangiroa, just because of the location, take a look http://www.gotahiti.com/islands-rangiroa.htm.

Ok the other thing to understand is that the price of food is out of this world,I mean crazy priced,I think I paid $25 for a cheese burger and fries,so please budget that into your trip.

anyways is it worth blowing a hole wad of money to go to...hell yes, great island,Bora Bora is just a city,it's got some great beaches, but it's still a city, kind of like when you go to Hawaii, youhave to get out of HNL...

Hope this helps some

oh hell forgot, rate is running around the 120-150 euro's a night for Rangiroa and 100-130 for Bora Bora, compare that to the Sherton which is showing a rate of 210 euros for a base room.

Thanks Dave

Yeah I'm come up against this problem, most the hotels are very expensive, way more than the cost to actually get there...anyway it's still just a thought at the moment.

I might do a RTW fare as it's not a lot more money and you can do PPT so that could also be an option...

Take a look in the "ask a guru" section

we are heading to Fiji, but after pricing out hotels we ended up renting a house there.Dont know if there is a place that rents homes in Tahiti but I should think with a little searching it's possible, also NZ has some great prices on their vaction packages.
