I have my first company paid for UC flight happening in May, so I thought, I'd get online and try and book a treatment at the Clubhouse.

The last few flights I took at my last company were in PE, although I have had Clubhouse access for a few years.

I see from the Cowshed page, online bookings are no longer taken.

I had to check my Calendar to make sure this was n't a Life on Mars moment, and somehoe I'd been transported back into the 1990's.

What gives with the only make a booking on arrival nonsense ?
The last 2 times I was unable to secure an appointment and turned up early (4 hours before) I was not able to get a massage.

How long has this been in operation, and does it work well for the passengers ?

Yup this has been in effect for a little while now (since last year - see this topic: http://www.v-flyer.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=261303&p=261303

I managed to get a treatment last time I flew VS by asking on the day but others have had varying degrees of success.

Bad move in my book but YMMV.

I hope you have a great flight otherwise.

Don't get me started on this one again - I arrived 3 hours early for my Sydney flight last month and couldn't get an appointment. There was only one hairdresser on duty and only 2 treatment rooms being used! v( v( v(

Ok, well should I be getting there 4 hours early, and no availability on a Saturday morning, I will be giving them the gift of feedback.

Which will probably include a snotty repsonse in their guest book.

It does seam to depend on the day / time you fly.

I managed to get a treatment last month (arrived at 12.20 on a Wed Afternoon for a 16.00 flight)

HoneyLamb and party all managed to get a treatment yesterday.

So it seams to work for some but not others.

I think that is fair comment - but it also begs the question what happened to the "extra" therapists that were taken off the flights so the service could be improved in the CH? The CH is known to get busy in the evenings and staff scheduling should take that into account otherwise Sydney pax will always have a problem.

Certainly a bad move by Virgin IMHO.

I have had a pre-flight routine for a few years of having my haircut in the CH before flights. I no longer do this as I cannot be sure of getting an appointment so have to arrange haircut elsewhere.
On my first flight {Feb} since the changes I mangaed to book a massage on arrival which was fine. Staff in the Club House tell me the new system works well but I see it as yet another erosion of Gold Card/UC perks.
