The Virgin branded drinks that are served onboard, are being replaced with Pepsi/Diet Pepsi and R Whites. They are being phased in as the current stock of Virgin drinks are being used, but some of the new stock is already onboard.

I've never liked Virgin cola, so this get a big y) from me.

I prefer Coke, but Pepsi is still a big improvement on Virgin Cola for me.

I hate Virgin cola so anything else is an improvement, although I prefer diet Cola over Pepsi.

I was originally going to post something along the lines that Peter Kay's routine abour Rola Cola (which I always assumed to be fictitious) always brought Virgin Cola to mind. A quick google reveals a Wikipedia entry that states that the licence for Rola Cola in the UK is held by the company that manufactures...Virgin Cola.

AAAHHHHH, I've spent the last 3 years moaning about it, quite often having to "borrow ): " real coke from the clubhouse to take onboard and now they are replacing it with Pepsi n(

Good point, no matter what VS do, what food/drinks they serve, how they allocate CH treatments, which films they show, they can't please everybody, so at times they really are in a no win situation.

That's what I was thinking. They can probably buy in Pepsi cheaper than continue to produce your own brand.

Neil

Thanks for the heads up y)

Like many others, my preference is Coke, but Pepsi will suffice :D

I will have to start practicing "JD & Diet Pepsi, please" ):

Have they stopped producing them I wonder? It's been a long time since I've even seen a lone bottle of Virgin Cola for sale in a supermarket.

I would think it's a production thing.

Last year DL spent about $60 M on their soft drinks from Coke, so you can imagine that the total bill for VS is way way less.

At long last- I mean how many years has been since Virgin Cola has been made available anywhere but on VS? I am a huge Coca-Cola addict so have never had much time for Pepsi or Virgin Cola.....however at least the change brings the airline more in line with what one expects when they order a coke- I have always wondered what the reaction of non-UK based passengers is when they are handed Virgin Cola...

They often think it is "cute" and ask for a can to take as a souvenir - not kidding.

Thats interesting - when I flew back from Orlando last November we had Coke. The stewardess was telling us that they are stopping production on Virgin Coke and going over to 'proper' Coke.

I wonder what has made them change from Coke to Pepsi.

The odd cans of Coke that have appeared onboard before will be due to stock levels of Virgin Cola at the caterers at each station. When there was a shortage, another brand that the caterers have had in stock will just be used as a stop-gap until normal supplies have returned.

So they won't have made a decision to switch from "Coke to Pepsi" - it will have been "Virgin Cola to Pepsi" instead.
