Should be departing at 20.00 today, but due to technical issues it has been delayed by 14 hours.

Just wondering if anyone has been similary afffected before? If so what sort of compensation did you receive?

Thanks

how annoying

there are several threads on compensation but the amount depends on the length of the delay and the distance to be travelled - the greater the distance the longer the wait before the compo kicks in.

The Air Transport Users Committee has some good info on this page

Our flight got cancelled when we were coming home from NYC a couple of years back. The compensation was miles dependant on which cabin you were flying in. It basically equalled a one way miles reward in your cabin.

In circumstances like this does the Clubhouse stay open all night for UC/Au passengers?

Well I've been offered overnight hotel accomodation.

I have to say though that I feel VA have dealt with this well as I had a text message and email at 9am and 2 hours later a phone call. y) Far better than the old days when you would turn up at the airport and be told then.

I am on the receiving end - i.e. flight back from Mauritius delayed by about 15 hrs. Means staying an extra day in Mauritius - better than at Heathrow, and VA have allowed me to stay extra night at v lux hotel with lunch and dinner. My only gripe is the delay in getting me this info and the fact that even as I checked in on line there was no notification about the delay.

Surely that would depend on the time you did OLCI and the time the plane went tech. If the plane went tech after you completed OLCI then then you could not have been warned!

I checked in 5.40PM local time. As I did so I got a message from local travel rep saying she had known since 1000AM and had been trying to contact me. I completed OLCI and printed boarding passes. I then checked on flight status (on Virgin Atlantic web site) to see that indeed the plane was delayed. 15 mins after I checked in I got a call from Virgin to inform me.SO considerable delays it would seem in a)notifying Gold customer and 2) not linking flight status with OLCI process. BTW the extra day has evaporated as it has been pouring with rain all day!

We flew out of MRU on the 27th on BA. Flight was delayed a little due to additional catering being put on for the additional pax from the delayed/cancelled VS372. Messed things up a little in not getting the full selection as stated on the menu but some very nice lamb was added which was excellent.

A great flight with BA with excellent crew. TR will follow as soon as.
