I have a PE sale fare (K) to SFO in May, and I'm going to need to fly back later than originally planned.

Is it possible to change the return date, e.g. can I pay to upgrade the fare to S and then pay to move that? If so does anyone know how much that would roughly cost?

Thanks

Tricky, but if possibly, it'd be the difference in fares - so do a search on http://www.virginatlantic.com for the dates you need, making the return flexible, and a rough indication of cost is going to be the difference between the price you paid and the price quoted.

Alternatively, as it's the return portion, you might find it cheaper not to use that return coupon and do a mileage reward home (one-way discounted fares don't seem to exist).

I guess you have K fare, you'll need to upgrade to a W fare to make it flexible. Ws to SFO start at c. 2200 GPB so that give you and indication.

I've changed a K fare before on the return leg as I had to come back from the US a few days earlier than planned (I'd already stayed a Saturday night). It only cost me $100.

Worth checking the fare rules on your e-ticket! A new booking right now on a K fare under Penalties says "Changes any time charge gbp 90.00".

I've just spoken to them, and basically the fare is changeable, £120 change fee and then the fare difference, so all in all a pretty good result. Now I just need to work out when I'm actually going to be coming home.

I just thought I would update this thread now that I have actually done it for real - all they charged me was the £120 change fee, seemed as though they forgot about the fare difference ... :) :)
