Thanks for that!! I don't anticipate joining in on anything!!!!
I registered but never was sent a confirmation or activation email, I read it during the VA arguments a year or so ago, it was enlightening at times.
From a couple of weeks ago, but just read this quote by Clarkson in The Times
I like Virgin. And I flew Singapore Airlines recently, which was out of this world. But there is nothing quite so joyous as leaving the hustle and bustle of a superheated Third World hellhole and being greeted on the big BA jumbo by a homosexual with a cold flannel and a refreshing glass of champagne. Take that away from us and we may as well all be Belgian.

From The Sunday Times October 2, 2005
As indeed am I. Bill - your PC needs a new battery for it's clock ;-)

Rehash of Beardy Airlines second para.
2005! Clock is OK - and even the memory

Is Clarkson ever original?
BBC ticker reporting that BA say the srikes last month cost it between £40 - £ 45 million
Huzzah for International Jet-setting !

Given BA has about 1.5 billion in the bank, I suspect WW sees that as a fair price to break the BASSA strangle-hold on his employees. Better sort it out soon though, as 1.5 billion doesn't go far when you're losing as much cash as BA are.
Asia-Pacific seems to be the area of greatest loss then UK/Europe.
Americas revenue was actually up year to date and only slightly down in March!

Looks like UNITE have finally given up with BASSA
Derek Simpson (UNITE boss)

Derek Simpson (UNITE boss)
Simpson called the BA strike committee “clowns” for calling for 12 days of action.
And he described strikers as “deluded” for thinking they could win.
Unbelievably he said that the vote for strikes was not strong enough – despite the vote being 90 percent .
Simpson added that such strikes would lose the Labour Party the election and added that the union was still not big enough to challenge the bosses.
At which point someone shouted from the floor, “how big does this fucking union have to be before we can fight back?”

why do I get a map of the jet stream when I click that link?
I tried scrunching my eyes and staring at it but a pic of Derek Simpson didn't emerge

Sorry about that!
Link corrected!
Now to check if I've got a map link that looks like the Socialist Worker!
I must emphasize that I do not normally read such elitist rags - but they seemed to be the only ones allowed in to report that particular meeting!
Interesting article in the Guardian...
BA Cabin Crew to vote on Peace Deal
Only consultative but all the same - very interesting timing!

If striking BA cabin crew decide they want back their staff travel or no deal with Willie, methinks any strike action so soon after the ash cloud problem is going to backfire tremendously. I think it's fair to say Bassa weren't getting tremendous public support (may 50%) during the last, pretty failed, strikes - this time around there will be members of the public after their blood if they choose to interrupt the process of getting stranded Brits home. That, and the fact, internal support for the strike seems to have all but evaporated and Unite have distanced themselves so far from Bassa they might as well be stuck in Orlando.
Thanks
