ummm HAVE ANY OF YOU EVER FLOWN YOUR PET on Virgin?
For what you pay, you deserve some damn miles.
I flew my dog from Boston to London and his ticket was twice the cost of mine.

Hey don't dis the Trunki, :D there is no better way to do the "brisk" walk to Immigration with hand luggage & 4 yr old in tow (literally..) nor having a handy seat for them when waiting on the "priority" bags being offloaded :w

Thought you weren't on check-in anymore?

Do agree though they can be a pain, a swift kick usually sends it off on the right track... :w

So, let me see... What they're trying to spin to us here is that a cheap red bag with some even cheaper crap in it is worth - as far as I can work out - somewhere in the region of 8000 miles for a trans-atlantic flight? Bargain...

Well random other response received today.. (some highlighting etc by yours truly)

Thank you for your email dated the 04th April 2010. I truly apologise for my unintentionally delayed response to you.

As an airline and rewards programme, Virgin Atlantic is very proud of the products and services that we provide both our seasoned and younger flyers. As you may be aware, Virgin Atlantic has just celebrated its 25th birthday.

In this period of time, we have grown to be one of the most recognisable brands within not only our industry, but the world. The success that we have worked hard to achieve, has come from the continued support and feedback of both our passengers and Flying Club members.

It is for this reason, that I was concerned to learn of your disappointment. In order for us to grow and continue to offer a fantastic customer experience, on the ground and in the air, it is feedback such as yours that we truly appreciate.

I understand that you would wish your daughter to have a pleasant time on board, and an unforgettable experience. This is an area that Virgin Atlantic continues to research and improve upon. As my colleague Urvashi had mentioned in our previous correspondence, not only do we offer some fun and award winning in flight entertainment systems, but also what is know as a K-id pack. "Ahh, is there? well thats ok then... :? "

Whilst I appreciate that you would rather be able to claim air miles for your daughter, this is with regret not possible, (yes it is? other airlines can, what you meant to say is you just don't want to v( ). I have taken this opportunity to carefully read through your email, and whilst I am unable to offer you a more desirable response, I have informed our on board facilities team of your feedback.

For more information on the facilities that Virgin Atlantic offers, a good source of information can be found via our website. I have for your convenience, included a helpful link below.

I am unfortunately unable to comment on the individual views of other passengers, or that of members of online forums. Whilst this is the case, the number of complaints that we receive in comparison to the number of passengers who travel with us, is extremely small.

I hope that although you remain disappointed on this matter, that you will continue to enjoy some of the fantastic benefits available to you, with compliments from Flying Club.

Sounds like all us Parent types need to start firing in some Customer Service letters/emails.. :w

What complete and unadulterated rot.

You know, I wouldn't be so bothered if they'd stop hammering on about their 25th birthday and how few complaints they reckon they receive and just 'fess up to the real reason that they don't give kids FC miles: profit. It's their choice to make, and our choice as to whether we fly with them or not, but please, don't keep trying to convince us we get a good deal because you give us a red satchel with some crap in it.

Now I don't have any little ones, or at least not that I know of! However these responses NH has received from
VS stink. Talk about spinning something to ones advantage.

Maybe we should start a petition!!! I for one would sign it- mark I reckon u are pretty good at rallying the troops for this!

I missed this thread in March as I was travelling on BA to and from MRU. Not only was VS nearly 1K more expensive but we would have missed out on the Child mileage that BA give for under 12's which I think was something like 9,111 miles on this route in J and goes to the household account which comes in very useful indeed thank you.

As a relative newcomer to these boards I missed this too.

Also, I have no kids but think it is appalling that the kids don't get miles - they pay the fare therefore they should get the miles. It's bad enough that airlines consider 12 year olds adults. :/ (lets see what they say if you try to buy duty free for a 13 year-old that has paid 'adult' fare)

I'll happily sign any petition and will get a lot more signatures too. :)
