After a fun weekend in Edinburgh, it was time to head back to London. Checked in on line and left us in our pre-selected seats on the Embraer jet back to LCY. We had row 10 - unfortunately the windows are offset here and therefore row 9 would have been a much better option (although right in the middle so not a quick exit at LCY).

We arrived at EDI just over 2 hours before the flight, and as we had bags to check-in we couldn't as the flight was not yet open. Hung around for a short while (about 10 mins) and then we could drop the bags off and head off to the lounge. Security was very quick and after a brief stop at WHSmiths, we made it to the lounge. It was relatively quiet in here and got quieter when the earlier LHR flight left. As it was between lunch/dinner, there were no sandwiches out. However, there is a premium selection of spirits and wine available (not sure if you can get champagne in EDI though). Was nice and pleasant until some a group of very loud gentleman arrived, and proceeded to talk very loudly!

Flight was called and it was a short walk around to the gate, down the steps and out across the apron to the plane. It was a completely full flight, although the seats are on the new Embraer jets are so much better than the old Arvo jets used on this route (wider seats, more leg room and less cramped in).

After a short taxi we were up and off back to London. Drinks service commenced and it now appears that they have the same wine as on the LHR route (no nice Sav Blanc that they used to have). They were apologising as they went down - no ice or lemon and only paper cups (apparently BA have changed caterers recently and there are some teething problems with the catering being delivered to planes). However, we did get two bottles of wine - nice in a paper cup!!

It is a little longer flying to LCY as they don't go quite as high, but the views over London as you come into land are very good (especially of the Olympic village). We had an odd annoucement on approach, that due to the step glide approach required for LCY that there would be more noise and vibration that normal - not had that one before. It was a little bumpy on the way down - and I managed to spill a little bit of the wine in my paper cup as I hadn't expected it.

After a short walk to arrivals and the bags were off pretty quickly - the joys of arriving at LCY over LGW/LHR.

Overall, a good flight and coming back to LCY is so much quicker and easier than LHR/LGW (although on the outbound from LCY there would have been no lounge - not good if you are silver and want to get the most out of it :P )

Interesting TR as I fly to EDI but have yet to use LCY, which as you say is easier than the other airports.
