Just a quick question.

Our flight from MCO tonight at 19:30 is now delayed (late inbound aircraft) until 22:45.

Are we still required to check-in as if departure is 19:30. Pretty certain that is the case but 5 hours at airport does not really appeal with three kids.

By no means is this a defiantive answer, but in these challenging times, i would be checking in on time to ensure that I was not off loaded.

There are so many trying to get back to the UK, that I would not wish to loose my place

But dont they get an extra letter if more than 24 hours late?

Depends. If the flight is cancelled and rescheduled for the next day when that days original flight will also operate then a 1 is added to the front of the cancelled flight number.

If I get notified of a delayed checkin, I typically re-set the time I should get to the airport.

I've done this a few times with Virgin over the years, it's always best to check with them.

I got a heads up of a delay to the SFO-LHR flight a few years back, and spent the afternoon in Santa Cruz instead. I did get there with 2 hours to go, and I was the last one to check in !

Thanks for all the replies.

I checked with VA and they advised to check in based on the revised flight time. We played it cautiously but arrived at the airport at 6:45 for the scheduled 7:30 departure. No problems at all checking in and indeed check in was less busy as a result. Flight departed at 10:30 so still had a wait but nowhere near as long as it could have been.

Since the inbound aircraft was no due until 8:30 we knew it could not be moved back.
