The sparkling wine replaced the champagne back in 2007 or so.

That'd be my guess too, backed by some cod survey about how only 1.6% of pax use it (although I'm sure that will contain every V-Flyer lucky enough to turn left).

Maybe the question should be "what is there left to cut?" given all the VS have removed from Upper Class over the past couple of years.

Economy already get a better amenity kit than Upper (contains a pen). The T10 Gin has gone. The basket of UC extras has gone. The less said about some of the Upper Class food the better. Etc....

I thought i would never hear myself saying this this but.........

Perhaps if it means a small premium, then I would be happy to pay, just as so to keep what there currently is. Of course many who do fly in the UC cabin are there through the courtesy of their employer's travel policy :w

Would loosing the bar actually save any ££?

I suppose you could get another couple of seats in that area but it is a selling point that makes VS different over some other carriers.

I could see them reducing the choices of drinks available - still the same range but only 2 brands per type. sorry am not that hooked on a particular brand to be offended if its not there.

Could we see the use of plastic glasses instead of the real thing?

A moist towelette instead of a hot towel?

There was standing room only round the bar on my flight out to SFO a couple of weeks ago. The FSM was clearly having a great time serving drinks to everyone who arrived :D :D

I don't think they'd save much by taking the bar away either. It's just an open galley, after all, and you'd still need somewhere to store the booze and glasses.

I think I read (might have been one of declan's posts) that the UCS are a bit on the heavy side, so adding a couple more - especially on the A346 - wouldn't be an option.

I've been told this several times by crew (when sat at the bar :D ) so it seem unlikely to happen.
Next cut :? :? ???? IMHO sleep suits.

Sorry, I should have added they switched out the champagne in PE in 2007.

I don't see the bar going, unless all flights are mostly full and they needed more seats. It would n't be worth the changeover costs.

Also it's a very useful admin centre and staging for food prep.

Also great place for staff travelers to congregate :?

Kids packs..can see them disappearing, as we all know, they are handed out routinely on all non- MCO flights... :? oh well, least we get the miles instead.. ):
Removing a block of Loo's? Might mean that Y may have to use the PE loos & PE might need to share the UC loos, Could see this being controversial as a real step away from the norm, so may need trial first.. :? .... ):

Charging for Booze, outside meal run, in Y..?

I'd agree with a thinning of the drinks onboard. BA have thinned out the choices on the Euro fleet and I seem to recall reading a cost analysis exapining the savings they made by not stocking Apple or Tomato juice on certain flights.

Runs for cover.....

:(!

But before this gains steam.

A vast majority of the flights are operated at "crew minimum", the only way to cut another member of the crew would be to close down the top deck on a 744, that way they can fly with 11 instead of 12 FA's.

Threads like this make me so sad - if the UC experience is cut back anymore there really will not be any point flying VS. I never thought I would have to say that.

I do love how we are all predicting the demise of UC and VS on a random question asked without anything to even suggest VS are considering cutting anything.

Yes, they are known in recent years to have made many cuts, but hopefully things might start looking up. We have the new a/c planned, the re-fits on the LGW/MAN fleet, the recent refurb of the LGW CH. Maybe we need a "what will VS introduce/add next" thread instead. y)

Lets all be positive (never thought it would be me trying to look at the brighter side of life :w )

Sorry Neil, but until VS actually decide to add something to the UC service without it being labeled an "enhancement" then we can pretty much figure on something being taken away every 6-8 months or so.

Yeah, but it is all to easy to be negative, expect cuts and moan about them, but who said anything is being cut?.

I just find it strange that everyone seems to want a cut just so they can have a moan. Lets deal with the here and now, nothing is being cut, new things are coming along, so we should be happy and looking at the positives rather than the negative ( typical British attitude I guess!!)

After being beaten over the head for a few years you can pretty much expect to be beaten again, I agree with you though, but until VS steps up and makes UC one of the best cabins in the air again, you can expect the negative attitude from those of us that have flown in it for years and are now trying to justify spending money to do so again.

Hmm :? when time is finite, it's best to concentrate on things that might happen B) .
