Did you get re-booked on to another VS flight? If so, then yes you will get miles and TP's as you still took a VS flight. You will probably have to call VS to get them to add them manually though, as the system won't pick up on this.

If you didn't, then, no, as you only earn miles and TP's if you actually take a flight.

Hi Neil

No unfortunately I had to transfer onto AA as it was AA's fault I missed the VS flight and furthermore VS couldn't get me out of MIA until 29th whereas AA got me out the next day, (24).

Will get round to writing trip report on the whole incident, when I've sorted out my luggage that has gone missing and I have recovered from my 2 day journey home :?

Oh and you're right Orlando is really good fun..

:? Could always try and get AA to recompense your "lost earnings" by them arranging with VS for gifting you the missing miles.. :?

That maybe a first.. ): Just an idea.. :|

Ah okay, so as I said, you won't get your VS miles and TP's I am afraid.

Glad you enjoy Orlando and looking forward to your TR's.

Thanks for that Richard, I shall give them a call and see if they will credit them to my account.

Really want the tier points as I don't want to lose my gold status.

Will let you know how I get on.

Even if they don't credit the miles to this flight, I know that they have in the past been somewhat generous with letting you maintain your Ag or Au status. My dad has been Au with them for some years now and last year he was running short of basically one transatlantic to keep Au. He called them up and they agreed to let him keep it. This year his flying is back to normal and he is back to maintaining Au easily.

Either way, just ask politely to see if they will let you keep Au nonetheless.

RichardMannion wrote:Apple, I'd call VS Customer Services and explain the situation. BA have set a bit of a precedent by honouring miles and TP for missed flights due to the volcanic ash.

Very hit and miss.

I have been an Au holder for the past few years. Last year i Was 1 Tier point short, after speaking with ff team at VS I received no offer of continuing my Au card. Thus one cold February Saturday afternoon 2009 I made my way to terminal 3. Boarded economy flight to Dubai Saturday evening. I arrived sunday morning went through flight connections, then into gulf air lounge;finally boarding VS back to LHR UC. I am still unsure whether this demonstrates dedication and loyalty to an airline or just plain stupidity hehe
