Just a thought, could VS be thinking that most UC passengers pop into the Clubhouse prior to their flight and enjoy a good breakfast, lunch or dinner plus drinks ( or all!) and therefore the offerings on the flight are not that important.

They may be thinking (and even encouraging) that, but I'd be disappointed if it were true. Even if you eat in the Clubhouse prior to board, West Coast routes are a fair old distance to travel without something else to eat - and up the pointy end of the plane you'd kind of hope it was as good as, if not better, than the grub in the main cabin.
If it tastes as good as the the LHR-SYD offerings last month things are definately looking better. There was a time I couldn't eat anything in UC. Is Asparagus the new tomato?
A purple boarding card, pre-booked cowshed treatment, glass of T10 with lime, a proper amenity kit, packet of polos and a Freedom Menu please!

That could well be the case, but if it is then a couple of things needs to happen.
More servers in the clubhouse, a better menu in the clubhouse.
More sales in UC to fill the seats left by people who don't have time to stop in the CH and won't fly an airline that serves 2nd/3rd rate food.
Of those that I have listed, sadly I only see the third one happening.

If that had happened on my return on the VS002 last month I would have been very unhappy.
The meal on offer was curry (which I did'nt fancy at all) and there was no alternative main course offering so all I had was some salmon and cheese and biscuits - deffo not a 'meal' to have kept me going !
Huzzah for International Jet-setting !

I take it you were flying in Economy then

Anna
No Anna, I suspect that would have been in UC, I think, as it sounds more like the GNF (Does that now stand for "Get No Food"?) evening meal service.
Economy? what is this please?
Seriously I was in UC and had a meal on the plane !
I think I may not have made myself clear. The curry was the meal on offer in the EWR lounge and not on the plane.
Reminds me I've not uploaded the TR yet ...

Brilliant!

Anna
Having flown with this menu, it wasn't brilliant.
The "tradition" in the lamb pie seems to be in the tradition of Wetherspoon pies - a meat stew with a seperate puff pastry case plopped on the top.
Didn't much like what was on offer.

Not a bad menu, 3 more weeks till my flight wooo!
When will the menu change again?
Its every 3months, so summer menu out early June I believe....
Thanks for posting the menu. Will this be the menu for July/August? I hope not, as the outbound menu would mean me not having anything to eat. Maybe one choice on the inbound.

The menu changes at the beginning of June for the following three months.
I believe the Lamb Pie is being sourced from Cut-me-own-throat Dibler as mine contained 'tubes'...
Luckily I have a fairly strong stomach.

If the pie was anything like Mr Dibler's, it's been nice knowing you.
BTW, did Paul happen to get any sapient pearwood luggage for his birthday ?
It would explain why he won't reply to a text

Yep, that was the menu served 24th April and 9th May...

As above, the menu will change before then. Plus, there is rumour of a much improved meal service on board (larger, nicer meals in UC), so fingers cross, the improved UC menu may be the Summer menu (in time for your flight).

:0 :0 Gee have VS killed off the bean counters then! Many here wont be holding their breath for an improvement given the VS tactic of late across all classes of stripping the service back.
It did seem strange out of the blue that there were enhancements coming like mentioned above, but since it came from virginboy i assumed that this detail was about as reliable as it can get, would love to hear someone (other cc)confirm that this will come to pass, even better if its intime for the summer menu?
cheers

Thanks for your replies, I'll live in hope for the improved menu!

Well, I have 4 flights booked in UC between now and the end of July so I should be able to confirm it pretty soon since the menu changes at the start of June!
I just hope the rumour about the return of the cake stand is true

The menu changes ex-UK on 1 June. The new inbound menu from the USA has already started from some stations.
And yes the rumour is true.
