I see G-VFAB is currently the bird of choice for Barbados every day but Wednesday.
Will the equipment in August still be the same, ie an LHR bird with V-PORT.
We're flying out on August 2 with our little one in tow, first ever long-haul for her.
Any advice on the VS infant seats is greatly appreciated

Hi and welcome...

It may be a bit early to tell the summer scheduling of aircraft. The best way to see which configuration VS is currently thinking they'll be deploying is to use the "Manage My Booking" section of the VS website and look at the seat allocation page.

As you will no doubt be aware LHR metal have more UC capacity.

Just a thought.

Nope, it's pretty much an everyday thing, Barbados is pretty much the one place that can take a full LHR UC cabin everyday from LGW.

You can plan on it being an LHR aircraft for your flight, though of course, it is subject to change at any time.

As Scrooge says it's been commonplace for a number of years now to have an LHR config on this route....but....last summer it flipped between an LGW config and an LHR config - we went out on the former, came back on the latter.

I notice logging on to my booking the flight has changed from config 4 to config 3.
I presume this means FAB is going back to LHR to be replaced by another a/c without the economy seats upstairs but still with V-Port

Went UC to Barbados twice last year, once in February and once in July and on all four legs LHR aircraft with V Port were used.

Booked for same destination in late June this year & seat map indicates a LGW configuration with just 14 UC seats both out & return.

Just saw on the aircraft database that G-VBIG (normally LHR based) is operating tomorrow's MAN-MCO. Also looks like they're scheduling a one hour delay but (on VS website) asking passengers to checkin/bag drop at original time.

Hello

We are booked Prem Econ from LGW to BGI Depart 30 May and back 7 June - I have just checked My Booking and the seat plan shows the upper deck is all Upper Class.

Therefore:

1. Does this mean we will get NEW style PE (as all LHR planes have) this or old style? based on posts above?

2.
- If we get NEW style PE am I correct in saying that you can plug laptop directly into seat for power??
- if we get OLD style PE - do I have to purchase one of Virgin adapters for power at approx £50

All advice is greatly appreciated!

We requested the infant seat for our trip to orlando last month, I would recommend it as your LO will get a 5 point seat belt and it also raised the level of the seat so they can see the TV screen more clearly.
My only critisism is that it does not recline much so our little boys head kept flopping forward when he fell asleep. Had to prop it up with the pillows ! It has to be fitted by the cabin crew and it quite bulky, but they can take it away again if you find it is not suitable as it is stored on the aircraft.
I guess it also depends on age, ours is 2. I think if the child is younger than 6 months they have to face backwards for takeoff and landing.
It also meant that we could not check in online as we had a special request on our booking that had to be confirmed at checkin. When we turned up at checkin we were told it is confirmed at the gate !! If you really want to checkin online I would suggest not requesting it beforehand and then asking at the gate. We had no problem getting the seat, I don't think many people know about them.

Regardless of any delay, even if known in advance, airlines never change the check in time. Things can change very quickly eg a change of aircraft to minimise a delay. Thats why you are asked to check in as scheduled.

The aircraft of choice for BGI is usually G-VFAB, which has new PE. If the seatmap is showing all top deck UC, then another LHR config aircraft could be planned (possibly due to planned maintenance on FAB), which again would mean the new PE seats.

New style PE features a 15V DC EmPower socket.

Old style PE seems to vary. I remember the Odyssey A343s had EmPower sockets squirreled away underneath the centre arm rests with the old PE seats. It's that long since I've been on TOP/VAST/VXLG I don't remember what you get on those. The Nova ships won't have any.

No AC mains on any VS aircraft as yet, you'll have to wait for the new Airbuses to be delivered or the Gatwick fleet refits to start. The latest Panasonic AVOD IFE that they will get has facilities for providing AC and USB in-seat power built in.
