What's the reason behind the latest batch of delays?

Most other routes (excepting SFO) have been pretty much on time and BA LAS flights are also on time

Is it operational (due to ash) related?

generally yes - its icelandic ash causing the bulk of the current delays.

VS are trying to minimise delays but they simply dont have the number of planes that BA has. BA can rejig its planes / routes easier than VS can because it has the volume of planes available

As mentioned elsewhere, both the BA and VS flights were delayed yesterday out of Vegas, no idea why, but both aircraft were still at the gate around 8.00pm last night in Vegas.

I flew out on Tuesday and the flight didn't leave Gatwick till about 5.30pm. it was then an 11.5 hour flight.
Not looking forward to coming back on VS44

Delays are always a pain, but as others have commented in similar threads - I would sooner have a delayed flight, than a cancelled one. :D
