Got a Hilton Gold card in the mail this morning - courtesy of Virgin Atlantic. ?|

Sue has a Hilton card, but I haven't used mine for years.

It has a bonus offer of 5000 HHonors points and 5000 FC points for 4 qualifying stays, but they must be taken by the end of August.

So, when are we long term Hilton Diamond members going to be offered VS Gold then ? :w :P

Not a bad offer though. Gold should also get you upgrade to Executive Rooms if there's availability.

Hope I get one when I return ... I am currently Hilton Silver, will Hilton let me merge the accounts into the Gold one?

Can't see why they wouldn't, as it would be confusing at booking / check in to have > 1 number and your points would stay as they are, so all they've done is give you a leg up to extra bonus (not base) points and an enhanced chance of an upgrade on the room.

To retain the status (unless this a "permanent" offer) you'll still be working to the same rules as before, i.e. a 01-Jan reset to zero of points/ nights / stays. The only slight advantage of higher status in terms of retention of status is that nights and stays booked as "rewards" count towards status retention, so the more (base+bonus) points you earn and redeem, the more chance you have of hitting the status targets.

That's the standard Hilton rule; the year you qualify for the Status plus the following year. So in all likelihood the clock will go back to zero in 1st January 2011, so to retain status after March 2012 you have to earn during 2011.

Does the offer give you any leg up in terms of points or stays so that you only have to earn the differential 12 stays / 24 nights / 40k points to get to Diamond?

I got one this morning too with March 2012 expiry. I'm not VS gold though - only red! Haven't stayed at a Hilton for ages as I prefer boutique style hotels but may have to have another look if the perks are good.

"Please Mr Postman wait and see
If there's a letter there for me"

We don't have mail here on Saturdays so hopefully there will be something for me as I could very easily be booking a Hilton hotel in the immediate future, especially if a gold card was involved

I do wonder how they select people for these offers. I'm guessing it won't be for all VS Golds, but rather, VS golds who have stayed at a Hilton and linked it to their FC account? Otherwise, how would Hilton get the details...

I cant speak for others, but i have a hilton visa cc and use it lots, also stay atleast 3 times a year at a hilton so although i dont qualify for hilton gold i certainly do put a lot of money with them over and above any other hotel chain. ii)So im pleased to have been picked.

Any registering and planning a stay before August may also want to register for triple VS miles here.

Alex

I got a flyer for the offer with my MBNA statement this morning and the t&cs state "Only stays booked after registration..." That said, just about every other offer I've had from Hilton over the years states the same thing and I've always had the benefits even for bookings I'd made before the registration date.

Hmm, not had any post in a few days, and a Hilton Gold Card would be kind of handy.

Actually i dont mind to much that i didnt get the offer as i use the e-store hilton offer of 4/miles so i gained there i guess.
I only collect hilton miles to convert back to ff miles as these are much more valuable anyway, just wish spg did a visa and not an amex.
