Is this right? We have had a few fiasco's with Thomson's with our honeymoom already!
When we booked, we were given a VA booking reference code as usual. I tried to get on the VA site to select the seats as I have done in the past and nothing as I couldn't get on!
Is this new as I am sure I have been able to do this in the past with the balance not paid in full?

We have been on the phone to Thomson's this morning. They then gave us a new code which has made me highly suspicious!

I think the problem is that there are all sorts of booking numbers / codes hanging around and it just confuses

I think the one you need to get onto VS manage my bookings is a six letter code - eg KPHLKS rather than anyother bookign number.

I take it the new code hasn't worked?

I'm in a similar situation regarding some flights booked to MCO with Virgin Flightstore and I have also been told I won't be able to access Manage My Booking until the balance is paid. It's not too bad though as I believe the balance has to be paid 2-3 months before, and there should be plenty of seats left on the seat map at that time. ;)

I have the same problem whenever I book through a travel agent as they usually don't pay VA for the flights until after they have received your remaining balance. So it means that the e-tickets are not issued until then and so until that time you cannot log into magage my booking. However if you're looking to reserve seats then I usually give VA a call as they are happy to do seat requests over the phone.

The agent holding the booking can hold your seats, do meal requests etc. VS would prefer you to do this rather than call them.
You will not be able to acess your booking until your agency issues your tickets. Depending on the ticketing time limit this can be as late as a couple of weeks before your flight.

Once the ticket has been issued it can take up to 24 hours for the VS site to be able to show your booking.

I booked a holiday with VH and had the same problem which is odd because i've booked many holidays with VH and could log into the Virgin Atlantic website straight away.

I was told that i could only access my VS booking after the e-ticket had been issued which turned out to be true. I booked In Jan for a June holiday and normally try once or twice a week to see if i could log in. It worked for the first time last week, about 3 weeks before we go.

All the seats had already been selected though.

I've had this many times with my corporate travel agent.

Basically, until your flight is ticketed, it does n't really exist in a viewable format for a regular customer. My agent normally tickets them at the last possible moment, in case we change our minds etc !

When you get a Record Locator, it could also be the Agents one, that has all the booking details of the flights, hotels, cars etc.

You need to use the Airline specific code, as and when it's been ticketed.

I've asked in the past to secure certain seats etc, but always had to wait until it's officially ticketed and paid for.

No they haven't. Only 60% have and the rest will be released at OLCI.
