Where should i try and sit to avoid turbulance

Hello all, with just 45 days to go i am off the wall with excitement. However after watching too many episodes of second to disaster and air crash investigation, my sister has become... how do i put it, on the jittery side of wimpy. (i do love my little butterbean, she is just such a scaredy cat)

We have got our e-tickets and i am entrusting my father to engage his superior technological skill and book us in online. How can i nudge him in the right direction?? is online check in where you can choose your seat??

Sorry if the preceeding text is all waffle, or if my use of technological terms is dazzling. but if that is where you can choose to sit where is best to aim for. bearing in mind I'm sitting in economy. and mt code is Y

Bearing in mind that vs029 LGW to BGI is usually operated by LHR config G-VFAB or the equally impressive G-VBIG. although G-VRoy seems quite good.

Ps I need answers fast as my dad is approaching that special age when men become stuck in there ways, so he needs to think he thought of this and thought of this a while ago..

To avoid all turbulence, the best place to sit is in your armchair, however, seeing as you are going to be on a plane, the best place to be is right around the wing box area, so try and get seats around the middle of the wings and you will feel less motion.

But keep checking as seats do open up etc.

Have a look at the seat maps on here or http://www.seatguru.com or http://www.seatexpert.com - the seat maps usually show where the wings are.

ah the manage my booking amy well be off limit ( please correct me if i'm wrong) i have booked with a travel agent due to needing an onward flight with regional carrier liat. so i possibly cannot utilise this tool... but then again i've nevr tried.

as long as you have your booking reference for your virgin flight and the tickets have been issued, you should be able to see the booking on the Virgin website and hence, view seating etc.

knowlegable? Me hummm, not sure about that. Lol it's just that I've booked ma first virgin flight through my travel agent and couldn't work out why I couldn't see the booking in my flying club account. after a call to Virgin, I was informed that until the tickets were issued I wouldn't see the booking. Once this was done i could access the booking and add in my meal choices, seat requests and my API etc. So I guess it was just thru experiece that I was able to comment on your post

goldenapple - My advice (having previously been a nervous flyer) is to read about both turbulence and aircraft. In short, I realised that turbulence is normal and does not (in most circumstances) damage the aircraft.
