Transfer from VS to DJ

On our last trip to MEL 3 years ago via SYD (VS to DJ) and not knowing any better, we schlepped from the International terminal to the domestic terminal with our cases ( and paid the bus fare too !). However , if memory serves me right I believe there is a facility to check our bags in at the International terminal and obtain a complimentary transfer over to the domestic terminal ?
Am I talking complete and utter rubbish or can somebody confirm I haven't lost the plot (yet) ?| ?
Oh yes, I'm leaving tomorrow so all advice gratefully accepted .

Just did a quick look at the SYD website and found http://www.sydneyairport.com.au/SACL/Terminal-Transfer.html.

Having had a quick look on the DJ website it seems that there is the option of Seemless Transfer for passengers connecting between VS and DJ (given that they now partner each other). On the V Australia I found reference to the Seemless Transfer Lounge, which is located after quarantine at SYD but before you enter the arrivals hall. However it states that you must be on one ticket for this service to be free. There is a charge for this service if you are on two different tickets (which I am guessing you will be) charge is $15 (guess per pax). You then get a pass to transfer on the bus to domestic for free.

If you google Virgin Blue Seemeless transfer you will get a fair few hits.
