Hi Guys.

I fly out to LAX on VS023 on the 19th of June.

I am flying economy, but I want to upgrade to better leg room (or exit seat), and as I understand, this cannot be done online, it must be done at the desk.

My question is, how early can you check in at the desk? I want to make sure I get at least *some* form of extra leg room, as I am 6'4".

Thanks in advance!

Check in opens at around 6.00 so you could arrive anytime after that.

But going that early means a long and possibly boring wait.

It is different at non UK locations. Usually the check will open 3 to 4 hours before the flight is due to depart.

It is only really LHR and LGW where the check in is open all the time and you can check in for any flight at any time.

I know extra leg room seats can only be obtained at the desk, but thought in Economy you had to either complete OLCI or use the Kiosk machines at Heathrow.

Do the kiosks take credit cards for the extra legroom seats? Or do you check in there and then take the boarding pass to the desk to change to extra leg room seats?

You will make the payment at the ticket desk.

Just to argue with Neil, LAS check in opens at 11am for a 5pm flight.
