Hi All

Any ideas? I am going to book flights to ANU and back from BGI for next March anyway, but wonder if there is likely to be anything in the budget which would make it worthwhile booking tomorrow or Monday anyway to save a few pounds! Anyone have a view on this - is VAT charged on flights anyway?

Appreciate advice.

I suppose one of the things that could be changed is APD but whether it will be to the passenger's advantage remains to be seen

At the moment VAT is not charged on things like air, train and bus fares.

I've not seen anyting to say that VAT will be extended to areas where its not currently applied just that the 17.5% rate will go up to 20% but that is just media speculation.

The only thing that is guaanteed is that things like APD are not going to go down. !

The Daily Mail is speculating (or should I say scare mongering) about massive hikes v( v(

If you can afford it and the price is right, then take advantage now as taxes are bound to go up and "the pound in your pocket" may be worth less abroad after Tuesday. But there is no sense in spending money just on rumours

The logic is always thus - if the fare seems reasonable to you now, then book it.

Tomorrow, anything can change.

As to APD, VAT and anything else - expect it to rise.
