Just seen BA have a Club/First sale on and IMHO I am tempted by them as I am looking for a break at the end of Aug/Sept and at these prices I am interested.

Do you think VS will now show their hand or bank on the fact that people are still unsure of BA due to their outstanding strike issues?

Looks like Virgin are already matching these fares. I've just looked at MAN-MCO for November - previously it was £1933 return in UC. It's now coming out at £1628. LGW-MCO is at £1629 return.

Didn't take long!

Yes they certainly have gone down. I've been looking at Vegas for a while now and the upper fares have dropped just enough for me to buy one.

I'm still waiting for the 2011 offers to come through for another trip in Feb though.

I see they are advertising Chicago up until the end of the year but the booking engine says flights stop in mid-September and dont start again till May 2011

Looks like elbow-arseitis has hit Crawley again!

Am not a happy bear though as no NYC fares for Sept / Oct v( v(

No Slinks, they are 'reaction' fares. xx(

Yes the reaction is more like 'suppose we should do something but not too much and we wont tell anyone' rather than that of a group of quick witted ninjas?

yeash, its certainly not a real UC sale, like they had the last few years. I can't see any bargains yet that urge me to book.

NYC>LHR is still over $3300, when it was $2150 last proper sale.

which means will probably be taking up the BA offer, alas, as that is $1000 cheaper nearly

Just found SFO-JHB in UC for $6100 in October, but can't find a reward for other half and the system seems to have changed, so you can't see the whole month like before, or am I missing something?

I was looking for reward seats from JNB earlier this year and found that more often than not there was a message saying that there were no seats available rather than the whole month greyed out. I was more likely to see the whole month if I looked for a return trip when there was availability in one of the legs or if I looked for a reward in a different cabin for the outbound (which I didn't need)

Thanks Honey Lamb, I was just used to the old calendar display, so you could easily figure out what was available, instead of the stupid, check this day, then this day and so on. Seems like a step back, anyway at $12700 for two UC, SFO-JHB I decided to pay cash (or Virgin Amex), rack up ridiculous amounts of miles and qualify for Gold again.

Agree these are not very good prices, just checked UC for LHR-LAX-LHR for 22/12/2010 return 12/01/2011 and got £2177.97 - last real sale price I got on this route was c. £1700 - quite a difference!

Think I will hang on until closer to Christmas and see if they do a proper sale! (Birkin is already fixed up with a reward seat, its just me that has no ticket! :? )

Never mind Bazz, there'll be plenty of room at the back ;)

We booked BA again, as the VS fares were considerably more than the BA counterparts again on the dates we wanted. £2500 each more for the exact dates we wanted, £950 each more if we had gone out a day earlier.

Especially given the wave of service 'enhancements', my rationale of paying slightly more to go on VS has gone right out of the window.

NYC dosn't feature for September GRRRR so I'm looking at BA (but reluctantly but not due to strike reasons) and even flying via the continent - Swiss is looking v good in terms of cash for business (approx £1.5k same as BA) but also in terms of product.

yes but if the flights have good loads at non sale fares then there is no need to have a sale.

Sales are there to get custom in when loads are light so if loads are not light then no need for a sale (no matter how mad we get about it !)

Both VS and BA have identical prices to BGI in Oct/Nov and not too bad they are either, 1.5K GBP in Upper or Club. nearly makes it tempting :? Certainly better than the 2.8K they were quoting last month
