Another scam to be aware of 'Free' medical cards being sold online

Get the official free card here

I understand that some insurance companies will expect you to have a EHIC if you travel to Europe and to use the EHIC first and that they won't reimbuse claims for care that could have been obtained under the EHIC scheme.

I didn't realise they expired either, so just checked and noticed mine was well within date. In ferreting through my wallet I did, however, notice that the photo id part of my driving licence expires next year...

Many insurance companies insist you should have one and produce it if a claim might be needed. They only pay up with the extra you might have to pay.

Often hidden clause that states: if you have any other insurance (ie NI..) then they will only pay their proportion.

Glad to be of service!

Just need to find my own to check the date on that and whilst I'm at it anyone seen my passport renweal form ?

And yes Tinks it is advisable - only takes a minute to apply for - only basic ID info needed plus your Ntional Insurance Number will be on your pay slip).

There have been some examples in the Sunday paper fnancial 'help' columns about insurance firms not paying out for things that would have been covered by the EHIC so best to be prepared !

:O)

We managed to lose ours last year (fell out of the passport) and had to get replacements. I was very impressed at how easy and quick it was to get a replacement. y)
