I am trying to find out if a companion flight in PE is available on a few dates in October between LHR & JFK. I can find S class fares available, but not sure how to see if a companion flight would be available on the same flights.

I tried a text chat onlien and was told to try to search for a 'Spend miles' flight. When I do it tells me it can't proceed and I need to call.

Any ideas?

The best way to check if there is a companion fare is to do a dummy booking as if looking for a reward flight - in other words, use the Spend Miles option. That should let you know what dates flights are available. Once you have a date to suit you, then call VS to book

Don't forget when you are pricing up the companion ticket - have a look how much two revenue fares will be. :D

If you find that it is cost effective to use the voucher - please post here. 8D

At the moment 2 x PE fares between LHR+JFK cost approx £1800 but an S fare costs just over £1200 so cheaper to book an S and companion flight.

About 10 days ago the PE return was around £590 so has gone up over £300.

The price increase is probably due to the fact that the recent Y and PE sale ended earlier this week.

As mentioned in other threads, the BA strike situation makes another decent PE sale unlikely in the near future.

If your total fare using the companion ticket is sufficiently cheap to take the hit on not getting any points for your second ticket, then I would go for it.

No, because if they are on a companion ticket it is not a miles and tier points earning fare. And even if you decide to pay for two PE fares you still can't earn miles/tier points even if you paid for the flight. You can earn miles by inviting your companion to join FC after the flight but no tier points

I have found a couple of dates that will work for this companion flight. Is it possible to book companion flights ont he VS website, or do they have to be booked by phone?

At the moment it does look to save a little, though when I called to verify availability they were quoting 40,000 files for a PE companion flight to NYC. Yet the VS website quotes 30,000
