Source? Sorry to ask for it but with this being your second post (welcome to VF btw) I think its reasonable to ask.

And exactly what do you mean by "re-branding". It can hardly be like a rebranding at any other carrier, after all the Virgin logo is the Virgin logo and would need to be changed the world over. And clearly the rebranding is not going to be that "major" they have only tweaked the livery, nothing when compared to the 1990's livery to the 2000 silver livery change.

I must admit having a second look I think it looks quite pants. The 2006 livery had finally grown on me to the extent that I thought the 2000 livery looked dated at LHR, the old 2000 logo where Virgin Atlantic is written alongside the Virgin signature looks very old, compared to the redesign of Virgin signature then Atlantic.

IMHO the only "tweak" that was needed was painting Virgin on the underneath, this could have been the Virgin signature right on the area by the undercarriage on a red background, in a similar way to the EK one.

Well I am a big fan. It looks modern and different, whilst still retaining something of a retro feel that Virgin needs. The best thing they ever did was remove the purple from the tail, it was cartoon like and totally lacking class.

I think it will look even better on the Airbus as it isn't such an awkward shape to layout. I did like the Union Jack winglets but I can't help thinking has this part of the VS marketing had it's day, although had they removed it from the lady at the front it might've been one step too far!

I personally loved the purple on the tail - I always feel like something is missing on the other aircraft.

I actually work for VS. When I say big changes I guess I mean there is going to be one unified look for everything - at last! I'm also not sure about the removal of the Union Jack winglets, unless they just haven't been added on yet? Or are only visible from onboard the aircraft?

I'll wait until i see it on an A340 until i make my mind up. Although my 1st impression is that i like the old one better!

i agree i liked the previous version as well. G-VROC did have an 'airborne since' and looking at her last paint job i definitely prefer this one.

I have to agree. Mustang Sally is perhaps my favourite aircraft (silly I know) and I liked her as she was in that photo

Let's hope the VS website gets an update, they manage to do a good branding job with V America including a unified website.

I don't know with the amount of planes VS has, the budget constraints and their need to constantly evolve whether there will be a complete branding harmony. By the time they have nearly rolled out one, it's time for the next.

Virgin's tinkering with the "original" 2000 livery looks like classic disasterous design by focus group. It's like watching a car crash in slow motion.

If they wanted to change the livery they should have made a wholesale change when they left the original purple behind. The tinkering simply reflects the perceived indecisiveness within the company as to its overall direction. Service, aircraft orders, routes - it's all all over the place.

I used to be a huge VS fan, flying them many times every year to the US in all 3 classes in the late 90's and early 00's. They actually used to be better than the other airlines. Not any more. They are no different to any other airline now and sometimes much worse.

I think this livery is horrid, and I would not be at all surprised to see another livery on the A330s if not before.

IMHO it looks much better on the A330

I notice from the picture that the winglets have the virgin logo on it, so therefore they have made the flying lady with a bigger union jack, i suppose thats in responce to dropping the flagged winglets.

Having now seen the A330 picture on the VS Facebook page, I agree that the new livery looks much better on there than on the 744.

Well having seen 4 VS aircraft in 3 different liveries at MCO last month, i must admit it looked a bit tatty! Hopefully they get round to repainting the fleet a bit quicker this time round. Otherwise there will be another revision out in 5 years and even more variations!

Losing the Union Jack Winglets was a very bad decision - I expect the PR dept will come out with a one liner "Virgin Atlantic is a global Company" - however I am a firm believer in acknowledging your roots. The winglets are plain red and dull. Bring back the Union Jack Winglets - it wouldn't distract from the new scheme.

Says in the press release the Varga girl has been enhanced and flying a bigger flag - am i the only one that doesn't see any difference?

Anyways, the new titles scream Star Alliance, I have for a long time been saying that VS will try and get closer to LH/BMI, I think this is stage one, get people used to the Star font.

Completely agree - if it takes that many years to cycle through the aircraft in terms of a complete repaint, we'll probably have another design soon to add to the list!

There is even a Facebook group "Virgin Atlantic - Keep the Union Flag on your Winglets!" Suggest all like minded people join it. Clearly Virgin use FB for their own marketing, so maybe they will take note.
