Access to the LHR Clubhouse

Mrs ReggieB and myself are heading off to sunnier climes in January '11 and will be flying the first leg with QR out of T3.

Whilst perusing the various sites (i.e. Flyer Talk), I'm left wondering if we will be able to access the VS Clubhouse at Heathrow? We are flying J but are not a Gold Privilidge member.

Anyone got any experience of which lounge we are likely to be able to access.

I don't think you can use the LHR VS CH when flying J with QR anymore.

I certainly couldn't when I flew J with them a few years ago. I *think* it's only QR F pax that get access now.

Not sure what it was called but the lounge I used was maybe the SAS lounge (the lounge directly opposite the walkway as you leave the shopping area and walk to the departure gates in T3)

The reason I posted was because the Qatar lounge access arrangements are as clear as mud! Their FF Gold appear to get (or used to get) access to the VS CH. And as you suspect, I think F pax do.

Agreed - I did a quick search out of interest as I've been looking at QR for a trip this year and found the same references to Clubhouse access for Gold QR members and passengers flying first. For business, there was a reference to Cathay and Serviceair (sp?). But I can't triangulate any of this - looked at Skytrax, etc. I think it's because they are massively promoting their own lounge facilities in Doha (hmm - bit like VS do with the LHR clubhouse) - but it is poor you can't get a list on their website. All the links I followed were out of date.

I can confirm you get access to the Cathay Pacific lounge in LHR when flying business class on Qatar. First Class and Gold Tier Privilege Club qualifies for VS Clubhouse access.

Flew QR a couple of months ago due to ash and can confirm the premium terminal in Doha is fantastic.

Thanks for the replies...wrt the Cathay Pacific lounge - did you actually get access to this as a Qatar customer? Just had a quick scan around and it appears to be open to Oneworld alliance members passengers only (and Qatar Air is not part of this club?) - could you have accessed it because of being a top FF?.

Just flown QR J to Doha last week, and can confirm you will not get into the VS clubhouse..sorry.

I did get into the Cathay Pacific Clubhouse (and not the Servisair lounge as it was during CP's recent renovations - this just changed last week) and I have no status with Oneworld or Qatar at all.

It's an okay lounge but think AirNz lounge in LAX rather than any of the Virgin lounges - some (pretty poor) food, drinks and magazines and some seats. I was there 10am though, so it may brighten up in the afternoon.
