Hi all,

Been reading this board for a few weeks now, great info. This is my first post.

Myself and my girlfriend are travelling LHR-LAX tomorrow (VS023) and are booked in economy. I have some extra savings lying about and decided to price an upgrade. Unfortunately my travel agent said that this would not be possible and I'd have to wait untill I arrive at Heathrow.

I notice that there are 5 PE seats still available and 9 UC. If these are not booked before the flight will they be offered at check-in? If so what kind of cost are we looking at roughly to upgrade to either? Our economy tickets are Q class.

Thanks for reading and in advance for the no-doubt splendid replies.

Hi Neil and welcome.

If there are PE seats available then you certainly will be able to pay to upgrade at the airport, the tricky part is how much.

They usually have on the day upgrade prices for things like this, and they are often around the £200/250 per person price range (this would be a one way upgrade), but that might have changed. The fare code is irrelevant really as you aren't looking to use miles, so no problems there.

I hope you manage to get sorted and have a great flight. It would be great if you would post a TR at some point also.

I will definately be posting a TR, they are so helpful. I notice there aren't too many Economy ones either so if we sit there I can try to review the flights well.

This is my first time flying with Virgin. Its a big holiday for us so I would like the upgrade to start it with a bit of class. Can you upgrade from Econ to UC?

Thanks for the quick reply,

Neil

Again, providing there are seats available for sale, then they will certainly give you a price to upgrade. I would say, that the price from Y to UC will be quite a big one, as they don't usually have offers like the attractive PE ones.

Sorry for the constant questions! I've just chosen my tickets online through 'my booking' 33a&c Economy. Do I still do all the online check-in and all if I want to upgrade when I get to the Heathrow?

Thanks again

Don't worry about asking too many questions, the forums are here for that very reason :)

I would personally still do OLCI at T-24 (remember you must do it 13 hours before your flight to keep your existing seat requests). Doing OLCI will at least mean you have some economy seats you are happy with, if upgrading isn't a possibility when you get to the airport. If you don't do it, and can't upgrade, you might end up with some seats that aren't as good.

Doing OLCI won't effect your ability to upgrade.

Yes still do OLCI even if its just to get a better seat in Econ (unless you are happy with your current allocation that is)

Sometimes upgrades are offered at OLCI as well but if not you can still ask at LHR even if you have done OLCI

Wharever seat you end up sitting in have a good flight and a good holiday.
