Hi all... well in the Clubhouse and looks as if a lot of US flights being delayed today - all due to a plane going tech in MIA. So far SFO (my flight) delay to 1500, BOS till 2330, and hearing LA and JFK also being affected as well. Mind you, i'm on my hols so means I get more time in the lounge and the famous VA cocktails!!

Will keep you posted on further delays

Further updates:

BOS delayed to 0030, LAX both flights scheduled on time departure, JFK VS9 check in but await further announcements (not 1735 as stated online), looks like it is the 747 flights that are quieter being disrupted according to the very helpful concierge... nice view of the new look VA 747 from the lounge window though!!

Time for champers!

Another consequence of a tightly run fleet - the problem sounds like the 747s? Is MIA a 747 during the summer, SFO is, so is BOS. And aren't two 747s currently subbing at LGW?

Sounds like a painful few days of delays for people.

Enjoy the clubhouse!

Yes, BIG is operating the VS6 and has a big delay on it and is turning round to do the VS19, which is why the big delay there.

Only FAB is working ex LGW currently, HOT, WOW & ROC are all working LHR flights currently.

I saw a little while ago that G-VWOW was being taken to LGW fro LHR if this helps? and also seen that the VS64 from Havana that was due in yesterday to LGW has a 47 hours delay and that yesterdays Kingston flight hasn't yet departed, this could be the reason why G-VWOW is being taken to LGW.

Of course, taking planes into the paint shop in the middle of the summer season isn't necessarily a good idea is it :w .

Hic!! Sure is... was due for 3pm then 2pm, now 4pm... BOS now looks suspect whether it will leave or not...

Bearing in mind the flight is delayed over 4 hours... do I get covered by the EU compensation which is 600 euros? Any ideas?

You would get this according to the AUTC

(sorry if this duplicates Neil's link but it won't open here at work)

Food / Drink - so grab a server
2 emails / phone calls - go to the library / concierge

At least you are suffering in the CH and not the main lounge !

Compo only kicks in if it wasn't an extraordinary circumstance so don't go spending it yet !

I was surprised to read that as VS19 is usually operated by the incoming VS46 but I note that G-VWKD operated the VS46 last night. The VS6 is not due in till 22:25 so it will be interesting to see which aircraft will operate the VS19. Status Updates still has it as G-VBIG. Maybe they will send the 19 out on G-VHOT which is currently scheduled for BOS and then send that flight out on BIG. This would explain why the BOS flight is currently scheduled to leave at 00:30 tomorrow

Well still schedule for 1600 for SFO on the 19... BOS looks like 0030 still - but seems to be a topic of debate as to whether it will fly.Few disgruntled PAX in CH where they are not being transferred either on to the earlier BOS or with another airline... some interesting scenes!

G-VGOA is out of storage and in Manila undergoing Maintenance. G-VATL is said to follow before Christmas.

So where is HOT now then? Her schedule shows that she operated the VS46 on Wednesday and then hasn't been seen since, until she is due to operate the VS11 today.

If BIG has just left MIA and HOT is ?, then surely the VS19 isn't going to leave at 16:00, unless of course HOT pops up.

That's what I suggested earlier on. Don't know what happened to HOT as WKD operated the 46 last night. Perhaps she's holed up in JFK having gone tech?

HOT showed as landing back in LHR on Wednesday morning, after operating Tuesdays VS46 and then has just vanished! So she must have gone tech on arrival and is only due out very late tonight to operate the VS11, as I can't see any other reason why that flight would be running late.
