They cant use A340s for these delayed flights as the flight crew out in BOS and SFO will be 744 pilots so would be no-one to fly the a/c back - unless they position A340 pilots out and give them minimum rest then operate back, which is doubtful.
Well, they are on Last Call for VS19 - so that must be HOT - hopefully they will finally get out - I feel sorry for those going to Boston (or returning!) they are in for a long wait

That makes sense now. Seems to big delays on the 747 fleet (one LHR and one LGW) has caused big problems for VS today and the poor BOS pax are the unlucky ones.
