If they're in your checked in baggage (if you're checking anything in) who is going to know?

(Providing you don't get searched of course.)

On reflection, this might not be the best advice, but it's what I'd do, and then plead innocence if questioned.

This summer (when you and I flew on the same aircraft, crispin) I had a large bottle of Baileys in my bag for my host in Seattle. I learned two things on that trip

1) Even though I flew in from ORK to LHR the night before my SFO flight, when I mentioned I was flying onwards to the US the next day I was allowed to purchase it as Duty Free (cheaper than at LHR) but I had to pack it that night. Well I was going to anyway

2) On an onward flight where my bags were TSA scanned in front of me and then opened and searched, it was the bottle that attracted attention, removed and scanned by TSA. On reflection, every time the TSA has opened my bags it is because I have had a bottle/bottles of wine inside.

For me the limit is about 3 glasses of champagne, a Bloody Mary, a few glasses with dinner and a port - not getting by the immigration Johnny otherwise.
