The final flight of this trip - it's been seven flights in twelve days, and I'm pretty done in! I don't think it's just the flying that's tiring - the taxi's the security checks, the waiting and the waiting all take their toll.
But still, I shouldn't complain. I love my job, and I get to go to some exciting places along the way.
So after an afternoon at the office, I made my way back to JFK (again on the train), went to arrivals to collect my bag (from a really surly man - no tip from me) and then up to departures. There was only one couple in front of me at UC check in - though I think they'd been waved up from PE or Coach as they had to take their bags off to be screened, where once I checked mine it was taken off by someone else, leaving me to head straight to the lounge.
I was welcomed in - and it was busy, but not long after I'd secured a seat a flight (I think a Brazilian flight?) was called and it suddenly emptied. Then the the 7.30pm flight was quickly called and it emptied further. The staff did a great job in tidying up quickly whilst I made a start on a Redhead cocktail. Lovely!
However - my first real complaint of the trips I've recently taken - no-one in the lounge could log on to the wifi. Someone else went up to ask for it to be re-booted and it still took another 30 minutes before it came on. I was planning on using some online time to catch up with some folks back home, a bit of work, clear the back log of trip reports for here etc but it didn't seem to be. Anyway, eventually it got going.
I decided to have the burger - but really wish I hadn't as I found it really greasy. I liked the sauce that came with it, but I wouldn't chose it again.
Compared to the lounge at Newark - I think JFK doesn't quite match it. Sure - it's got great views, but on waiting for the 22.30 flight it soon gets dark so it's one plus point over Newark has gone. For me it's too noisy - the general hubub that floats up from the main terminal below and the level of the piped music - personally I like some peace and quiet, and in comparison, Newark wins hands down. Also comparing the food I'd go for Newark, but maybe I was unlucky with my choice.
Boarding was called a little late due to the inbound plane not being able to get on the stand, so when I did get down there (no queue at security) there was quite a scrum with all pax using the two channels. I decided to hang back - no need to get involved in that!
Once on board, I was quickly into my sleep suit and settled into my seat. I was in the snooze zone, and that was my plan which was carried out to perfection! As soon as the seatbelt sign was turned off I turned the seat into a bed and was soon asleep.
The next thing I new was being woken for breakfast - just a bowl of cereal for me.
Traffic was busy into Heathrow, so we were kept circling for 20 minutes before coming into land.
And then again - the same issue of the gate not being ready for us - is it me or are we seeing this happen more and more often?
So, yet again, for me, another great flight. I'm not going to the USA until October now, so a bit of a break from the long haul flights.

Rich - we'll meet up sooner or later at LHR or JFK or somewhere else! Meanwhile, thanks for the TR, I too prefer the EWR clubhouse over JFK, and I see another jet bridge / gate issue that VS needs to sort out.
