I was looking at VS redemption chart, and am amazed at the bad value New York is compared to other destinations. Have others noticed this?

They want 90k for an UC miles seat on this route, but barely more for LAX/SFO or Tokyo or Vegas etc - with these much longer flights at 100k miles, just 10k more than NYC! Has someone taken the redemption required vs actual miles flown and drawn up a costing table - if so I expect this would be top of the list! (or is that bottom?)

Is it just that VS know they can over-charge for this popular route, and get away with it? ?|

I don't think you could call it over charging, perhaps LAX etc. are undercharged?

It's fairly standard for all airlines to zone their redemption awards. BA's is a flat 100k for all of North America in CW for example, so you could say VS's is a better option to the East Coast?

They will be charging what the market will bear. If they can get away with it and keep attracting passengers, then it isn't over charging (unless they are colluding with others in the market).
