Hi,
I have a PE ticket (W) which I bought via VS. However, the ticket is linked to my CO FF account. Additionally, I have VS FF miles. My question is:
Should reward availability become available, do I need to have my VS FF account linked to the reservation to upgrade, either online, on the phone or at the airport.
Many thanks

Nope, you can use your miles to upgrade anyone you want - you could upgrade your BH, or parents, or even yourself under a different guise :)

Shouldn't make any difference.

Edit: I wonder how much fun it will be to get the tickets to credit to your CO account in this case, though.

With VS, when you upgrade out of a class into a higher class, you book into the same fare bucket that mileage awards book into (for UC it's G). You look, in other words, like someone on a reward ticket, and for the longest time the system had no clue you'd been upgraded, you had to call VS and get your miles credited manually. They'd often clear out your FC number from the system, too. IIRC the credit-for-original-fare issue might have been solved now (haven't flown a VS flight in some time).

You will get miles, did not mean to imply this would be invalidated, it might be a bit of an adventure and there are a few things to look out for.
