It's also supposed to be on during the Chelsea - Arsenal match on Sky Sports 2

So, planning a new UCS then buying interim aircraft into which it won't fit is Airbuses fault :w ?

Yep, as the new UCS was aimed at the a380 - so different designs have had to be implemented initially because of the delay to the a380 delivery. Hence the lack of J on the first few a330's.

Just seen the ad on Sky Sports 1 during the Ryder Cup coverage and very nice it looks too on the bigger screen

Perfectly happy to agree to differ Bill - that is what debates are all about. :D oo)

I accept that the spend doesn't seem that much when put that way, but my point is that I believe that the £16 million could have been better spent.

Here's a ping back - originally maybe, but then was developed for the B787 which is a wider aircraft than the A333. That is the current problem which will lead to no new A333s at Heathrow in 2011.

Wait for the official news to come out :w ?

I still don't like it.

I am not sure that being discussed here by already interested parties amounts to publicity; I am unconvinced that people new to VS would glean much from the ad.

The trouble is, half of what firms spend on marketing is a waste of money - the trick is to know which half!

It looked much better on the 'big' screen rather than on PC monitor.

The end grates a bit though - yes it is (slightly) comical but it brings the rest of the 'fantasy' down to earth with (too much of) a bump.

I'm watching ITV but it wasn't on here. For some obscure reason I get ITV West ?|

I thought it looked better on the TV too... but actually must have missed the last few seconds which I thought brought it back from seedy and back to fun!

I thought the same too when I saw it this afternoon.

I still think that at the end she should have asked "Is that Tinkerbelle?" :o) and I love the bit where one of the girls takes her shoes off before leaving. It's exactly what I would have done

the VS FB page said it would only be shown in the South East so the rest of the country probbaly got the horendous 'go compare' advert instead !

RichardMannion wrote:Regardless of the advert quality, there is an old adage of not forgetting your existing customer base. Why knock out 6 million trying to lure new customers if you have churn elsewhere that is greater. Luring customers, and then disappointing them with a service that is below that is alluded to in the advert is clearly a recipe for disaster. Innovate with the product again, get it consistent across the fleet and then advertise it.

HighFlyer wrote:I don't really like it, its just too far fetched and the part with the shirt-ripping crew member isn't what i'd choose as an image to promote my airline in 2010. As others have said, the money would have been better improving the onboard experience, then who needs fantasy advertisements when your basic product speaks volumes.

I hate the ad, not because it is bad (it really isn't) but it is typical VS style over substance, if it were SQ or EK promoting their premium cabins like that then I wouldn't have an issue, but VS simply can't live up to the hype and I hate the ending, if your going to do style, do style, don't ruin it with a not funny comment at the end.

You may have hit the nail on the head, SQ do not need to promote their premium cabins because the experience onboard speaks for itself!

I wouldn't be so sure - depends on the scenario and capabilities of your PR department. There is stuff that I work on with customers that other colleagues have no awareness of. I've been in the other seat where a customer knew more about a product change/release than I did. There are VS changes/enhancements that I knew about via working with certain VS departments, before the full breadth of VS staff were aware.

Of course - but I am referring to the point in discussion.
