I've done it a couple of times by booking my own connecting flights with Southwest. I've also driven from LA to Vegas - worth doing if only once!

You might be able to phone flying club and get them to book the connection all in one booking - others will probably know more about this - but I think you might be protected a bit more in the event of missing a connection.

If you plan on flying onto Vegas, always leave yourself at least 2.5hours between arriving and your next flight to give you time to clear immigration and collect/re-check your bags.

We did this last month and it worked out very well. We were on VS23 out and then stayed overnight at the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel which was very nice and there is an excellent bus service to and from the airport. This removed the worry of missing the internal flight (Plus the hotels on Saturday night are cheaper in LA than Vegas!!)

We then flew with Southwest to LAS first thing in the morning, its only a 45min flight and we were at the Aria by 10am. Southwest also include 1 piece of hold luggage in their price which makes them significantly cheaper than the other airlines.

I've stayed in the LAX Renaissance and it's a great hotel and a bargain at the $95 a night rate it was!

I've flown once between LAX and Vegas on Southwest which was completely hassle-free and have done the drive every other time. :)

I've done the connection once and it's very hassle free. There are so many flights going to LAS from LAX to choose from.
