This is another extremely large and very important site.
A much larger temple is close by.
Largely unexcavated and fewer visitors now.
Few of the remains are from it's first 2000 years of history.

It looks a bit like Carthage or Baalbeck - or of that ilk.

But struggling to reconcile either with the Rovers Return!!

When I first glanced at your post I thought you had it - but No!
Except it is of that ilk!
Neither a Roman nor a Greek god...

Nowhere near the sea!

He was also God of earthquakes and storms so an inland temple wokd still 'work' !

One of them is right!

So many clues:
HWVLover was almost there on the God.
God is connected to the inscription and I even translated the name (not of the God!)
It's inland so that helps identify where the temple is.
A much bigger temple next to it.
Not Greek or Roman Gods!
And the God is in a TV series - one of three.

Edit to add - it is in the Levant or Egypt!

Situated in Palmyra, Syria.
A most spectacular set of ruins and well worth a visit.

Antiochus mentioned on the previous tablet desecrated the Temple in Jerusalem and built an altar to Ba'al.
Antiochus (III I think) was killed in another Temple of Ba'al.

The larger temple nearby is the Temple of Bel

I've never watched Rome, Spartacus or Stargate. Thankfully a google search of Stargate gods helped in the end!

Very Well Done then!

Ba'al was the pre-muslim equivalent of Zeus. Also thought to be the original God of Jerusalem hence many references in the Bible.
Ba'al-Shamin (or Shamen) was the God of the Sky so particularly apposite for this forum.

Palmyra was very much on the tourist trail many years ago before Syria became part of the "Axis of Evil". A fascinating country with some spectacular ruins and castles.
