That looks fantastic, though I am wary that the seat moves within its shell so you may nudge knees with the shell in front (a la CX, which they are changing due to mass dislike). All the same, 2-2-2 on a B777 is better than most business class products ... add that to the food and wine, and thankfully ANZ and VS don't compete yet with this product.

Seats look nice - I think I would prefer more recline and say 2-3-2 config.

As for the puppet - I find it slightly childish and laboured. The same jokes get old quickly :) I don;t think Virgin need to worry too much - their new ad is 1000 times better.

Personally I think that NZ have been out-virgin VS for a couple of years. In W for example they serve J food compare this to VS where in W you get a glorified Y meal on a dish.

There is no doubt that NZ are moving with the times and offer a real viable alternative to VS (on the LAX and HKG routes), not bad at all when you consider the mess they were in around 2000 post the Ansett takeover.

Like it or not, there is no doubt that NZ is now the carrier that VS (in terms of consistency of service, hard and soft product) wishes to be (clearly they have different networks etc).

NZ are clearly doing the right thing at the moment and with chatter suggesting they will finally give MAN its along awaited US west coast link and the impending DJ/NZ quasi merger they certainly are going through an intereting period.

I have to say after flying with ANZ last month in their old PE seats, I am very keen to try the new ones. Their cabin crew service was exemplary and as willd says their food is from the J galley (although I did find out the meals are slightly different).

I was also told the new seats will only be fitted to new planes for the moment, so for a while (in 2011 at least) it will be a bit hit or miss whether you can get them.

IMO Those ads on Youtube are very entertaining. They have gone more for humour than the VS "style over everything". Much more likely to go viral like their "nothing to hide" ads than the new VS one.

Certainly would cost 1000 times as much ):

I don't think you really can compare the ads. directly - these new NZ ads. are very cheap and cheerful - Youtube costs nothing yet you can see 100,000s of people are selecting them to watch.
More than selecting 'Your airline's either got it or it hasn't' ;)
