After a couple of wet days at Loch Lomond followed a really nice sunny day in Glasgow / Helensbrough it was time to head back home.

We were dropped off at the Glasgow Airport drop-off zone (a "short" walk from the terminal. The terminal building itself was really empty. There was no-one waiting to check in at any desks anywhere in the terminal. Dropped bags off - had the iPhone boarding card on my phone......only problem is where do you put the luggage tag??? Upstairs to the security area - there were only three people in front of us and we were through fairly quickly.

Wandered through the shops and bar areas (no-one in any of them.......must be boring for the staff!). The BA lounge was also empty when we got there - one other person. By the time we left, there were only another four other people in there. I suppose it is an odd time to be flying to London on a Saturday evening. Had a few nice drinks and sandwiches in the lounge before the flight came up as boarding.

When we walked over to Gate 22, there was no one waiting to board and they made a final call. When we got on the plane we realised that it was really quiet. We were seated at the emergency exit row - loads of leg room. There were only 8 people in rows 1-9 and we were told not to move forward (there were more people in the back of the plane) as the seats had been allocated to ensure the trim of the plane was sorted.

After take-off, the usual drinks and snack service was provided. I see again that they have changed the "savory snack option". A short flight and we arrived in a cold LGW. When we parked at the Gate, we were told that due to arriving on time and weekend staff shortages there were no ground crew available to meet the plane. Typical! We waited for what seemed ages to get off the plane, and then even longer at the baggage claim for the bags. As we came of the plane our friends were in the EK lounge waiting for their flight to DXB, so a bit a waving between the domestic Gate 55 arrivals and the lounge occurred!

It was so nice flying back on a Saturday evening - the airport was so quiet, the lounge was very pleasant (not lots of business people) and the plane empty.

Thank you for the TR. I like GLA airport but know what you mean about it appearing empty sometimes. It may be my imagination but your experience with delays on arrival at LGW seems to be cropping up more and more, and I can't see it improving in the near future.

Only in the UK could an on-time arrival be seen as a problem !
