Glad I wasn't on the flight - if I was the wife when he did eventually get home the locks would have been changed!

did my geeky thing again !

Looked on expedia and a single from Gander to Man (based on the idiot not realising a return would be cheaper even if he discarded the return sector)on Monday would be £1,295 in Econ.

Assuming that the Candadian Police and Justice system have finished with him by then and IF another airline agrees to carry him ...

Found this CBC report with comemnts from someone who says they were on the plane.

Thanks for finding this Tonty y) y)

You know I just get that feeling that the bloke will regard this all as a bit of a laugh v( v( v(

I retain my initial view that this must have been pretty scary for the passengers and crew and I sincerely hop that he is forced to find surface transport for the remainder of his journey - hopefully after a period (long) on incarceration

Having seen a similar instance, I can say that it is extremely disturbing!
A straight-jacket was used to restrain and prevent further harm to crew and other pax. but that does stop the idiot howling and screaming for the rest of the flight.
Armed police were welcomed aboard at LHR but we still had a longish delay, after the idiot was removed, for witness statements.
Not a pleasant flight!

I found this piece Air rage fines unpaid by foreign offenders

but the distinction between the fines and the compensation orders to reimburse the airline for the costs of landing etc are a bit mixed up.

But two compensation orders for $ 6,200 and $ 16,000 are mentioned (as is a fine of $ 10,000)

Not a good situation, but i must admit i did find it a bit amusing when they said they charged him with 'mischief'! What did he do? Let off a stink bomb before pulling the cabin crews hair?!

It turns out my neighbours were on this flight. They were upstairs in PE, but still claimed it was a pretty unnerving experience to be told that they were making an unscheduled visit to Canada. They say it was all handled very calmly though, which is testament to the a well trained crew.
