Well it depends where you live and if your local council regards a road as 'main' or not and the priority it had for gritting that road.

All councils will have a network of 'priority' routes that get gritted / cleared first and will only move down to the next lowest priorities when the priority routes are cleared. Of course if the main routes need re-gritting they get diverted back to that.

BTW grit on its own won't clear a road. It needs cars etc to help grind it into the snow and ice to it gets broken down.

Good point!

Hence touching as much wood as I could. I'm on the VS003 so hopefully they'll try and get the early flights out.

Fingers crossed, though if I get stuck, the CH is not a too bad place to be stuck in....

Tropical here this morning.

Three of the 2012 international Ladies Beach Volleyball squads are in the garden, practising their moves in the children's sandpit.

And I am sitting in my deckchair with a cooling glass of fizz and acting as refereee!!!!

YEAH, right ): It is sooooooo cold various door locks are actually frozen.

I think that I might have to put the central heating on soon. :(

Believe me you don't. I've spent nearly 2 hours shovelling snow this morning and that has only cleared a very small area. Since last night I've helped push 7 cars and dig out another 2, If I never see another flake of snow it will be to soon.

More snow in Essex over night, the table in the garden measure 4.5 inches and thats sheltered. I reckon we have about 5.5-6 inches though.
